The beach offers 3.5 km of white sand and warm blue water. Tamarindo is surrounded by national parks to its north and south, and mountains to its east. The sun shines almost everyday, but in the rainy season (May through October) you can expect brief showers in the afternoons. Sunsets are breathtaking.
Swimmers must keep in mind that Playa Tamarindo has strong rip currents and submerged rocks. To the north, there is a estuary that separates Tamarindo from Playa Grande. It is great for canoing and admiring nature. To the south is the beautiful Playa Langosta.
