This is the regional center of the North. The city has a colonial feeling, with beautiful adobe buildings. The Daniel Oduber International Airport is located 12 km from town, which makes it a good stopover for travellers heading to the coast.

In Liberia, Museo del Sabanero (Cowboy Museum) is located in the Casa de la Cultura. It shows artefacts and the history of this peculiar area.
On the 25th of July, there are celebrations to conmemórate Guanacaste’s decisión to become part of the country. There are rodeos, horse shows and fairs.
