The Caribbean coast of Costa Rica goes from the Panama border up to the Nicaragua border on the North. It is on of the regions with greater geographical diversity in the country. The weather is almost always hot and humid, and, specially between May and Agust and at the end and beginning of the year, rainfall can be more intense.

In downtown Limon you will find all services you need: banks, supermarkets, drugstores, Internet cafe.

In Limón, cuisine also stands up in the country. It is diverse and delicious. Dishes cooked in coconut milk are a specialty, for example, the famous Rice and Beans and Rondón (seafood and veggies). Also famous is Pati, a turnover filled with spicy meat.

 How to get there

By car: From San Jose it is easy to drive there, you will have to take the Braulio Carrillo highway that will take you to Limón. You will go through the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Then, there are the towns of Guapiles, Siquirres and Matina. Keep driving up to Limón.

By bus: The Caribenos is the starting point. The trip to Limon takes some two hours and a half. Here you can also take the buses to Puerto Viejo and Cahuita. In these case, the trip takes some four and a half hours. it is better to buy the tickets in advance, specially during th Green Season.
