La Fortuna was mainly a town devoted to livestock and some agriculture. Some 20 years ago this district began to develop its tourist infrastructure. Right now, the town relies manly in tourism. At the beginning, tourist activities were developed mainly around Arenal Volcano. Right now, the town of La Fortuna has a lot to offer to local and international travelers.
